Out of the upheaval of her studio burning down in early 2019, Verónica Madanes moved into a painting practice that is as compassionate as it is breathless. All My Idols Wear Pink is a sprawling series of over 40 bright paintings in which a purposeful use of color distorts reality to re-define it. The paintings are layered, exaggerated compositions that juxtapose pepto pinks and toxic greens, lime yellows and deep blues, to create images seen through a kaleidoscopic interior bite: a deep-seated desire to formulate visually that which is not quite translatable in the conceptual. Installed maximally, the works create an enveloping experience that hints back to the cyclical nature of creation.
