VEZA 02 ran from 31 March to 10 April 2022 and focussed on digital art and the remarkable possibilities of new media. It took the form of a selling exhibition of important video artworks at SP–ARTE (Sāo Paulo) and simultaneously online, powered in partnership with Niio — a state of the art platform that enables new media to be preserved, certified and seamlessly acquired. This moment also marks the launch of the VEZA NEW MEDIA FUND, providing support to artists working in film, video and other digital platforms.

Galleries from 25 cities spread across five continents came together to participate in this new hybrid model of VEZA 02. In addition to the focus on new media, galleries presented works from their programme in a variety of media. Explore these as well as our other gallery members here.

Titled Bending the Axis, the VEZA 02 curatorial programme was curated by Meyken Barreto, Uche James Iroha, and the curatorial duo Carlos Quijon, Jr. & Kathleen Ditzig and was made possible with the generosity of Mr. Jorge M. Perez and the inaugural SOUTH SOUTH x El Espacio 23 Curatorial Residency.

As an extension of the Bending the Axis online exhibitions, the VEZA 02 curated talks programme included four live panel discussions that touched on the thematic threads established through the visual programme. Speakers included Pio Abad, Kimberly Drew, Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung and Tsering Wangmo Dhompa.
